Ideas Exchange is an event showcasing new theatre and/or works-in-progress for young audiences by artists based in Scotland. Come and join us at Scottish Youth Theatre to see four new pieces, offer feedback and network with peers. The programme for 2017 is:

Upfront - Sound Symphony - Age 7+ (ASN)

Sound Symphony (working title) is a new immersive sound performance being made primarily for audiences on the autistic spectrum. Theatre artist Ellie Griffiths is collaborating with cellist Greg Sinclair, singer Verity Standen and researcher Joe Wright to find new approaches to making performance for neurodiverse audiences.

MJ Deans - Una and Coll are Not Friends - Approx P7/S1+

Una and Coll are Not Friends is a piece of contemporary physical theatre in English and Gaelic for young adults. It is written by MJ Deans, based on a short story by Kirsty Logan. Una is a pretty normal 16 year old. She just happened to be born with a gigantic set of antlers sticking out the top of her head. Coll is the mysterious new boy… who just happened to be born with a tiger tail. He immediately rubs Una up the wrong way at school, and because of him she now finds herself in a new category, one that she didn’t ask to be part of: Kids with animal body parts: Kids who are “different”. It is directed by Caitlin Skinner and performed by Beth Frieden and Michael Abubakar.

Annie George - Untamed - 13+

Untamed is a devised piece that dives into the teenage mind, splashes around and comes up for air with a musical finish. Performed by sisters Eve Allan and Amber Allan and set in their shared bedroom at home, Untamed seeks to amplify the experiences and voices of young people, in their own words, set to their own music.

Alice Cooper - More Beans - 6/8+

A clowning piece about The Bean Counter; the Official of a jellybean counting competition. The Bean Counter is a character comedy about a clown who takes her job very seriously, uses some unusual counting methods and dreams of being French crooner Charles Aznavour. A fun, yet thoughtful piece about how seriously we take competitions.
