As part of its celebration of the Year of Young People 2018, Imaginate is looking for five young associates aged 16-25 yrs to join a panel to help programme and deliver the Opening Weekend of the Edinburgh International Children’s Festival.

The Festival presents the world’s best theatre and dance for young audiences aged 0-15, with performances that are deeply engaging, innovative and inspiring. Now in its 29th year, the nine-day festival attracts a loyal audience of 10,000 families, schools and artists and opens with a weekend of free pop-up performances and arts activities at the National Museum of Scotland.

Who is this for?

We are looking for five young people aged 16-25 yrs.

You should have a strong interest in theatre or dance - whether in performing, making, producing or designing - but you do not need any experience.

Imaginate is committed to representing the diverse range of voices which make up Scotland today. We welcome applications from people who are diverse and different, including those from culturally diverse backgrounds and those who identify as disabled.

What’s involved?

Most of the artists featured at the Opening Weekend are selected through an open call-out. This application process encourages artists working in the field of theatre and dance for young people to submit proposals to perform at the Opening Weekend. As our Young Associates, you will have the responsibility to read all the applications to select which artists will perform at the Opening Weekend.

You will also be involved in some of the logistics, planning and production involved in the Opening Weekend.  During the lead up and the weekend you will have the opportunity to promote and assist in the delivery of the presentation of work in the museum.

When will you be needed?

If you are selected, you will meet on a regular basis with the other Young Associates between February and June for a total of 35 hours. See details below. All selected Young Associates must be able to attend ALL the sessions to take part in the project.
Meetings will be take place in Edinburgh and will be held in late afternoons/evenings or at weekends. All venues used for meetings are wheelchair accessible.
