livescore was a year-long digital arts project (from November 2015 – 16) exploring the concept of instruction scores and graphic scores with artists, technical experts and young people all working together. Led by Greg Sinclair (Digital Artist in Residence) with Neil McGuire (Digital Lead) and two amazing trainees Jassy Earl (Trainee Artist in Residence) and Kyle McAslan (Digital Trainee).
We ran workshops with over 100 children and young people from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dunoon, the Isle of Coll and Ghent (Belgium) ranging from age 7 to age 25 years. Through these workshops we explored combining instruction scores with digital ideas to see where they created artistically interesting combinations.
livescore culminated in a new production by Greg Sinclair for age 10+, As The Crow Flies, performed at Platform (Glasgow) and the Traverse Theatre (Edinburgh) in October 2016. You can watch a capture of Traverse Theatre performance of the As The Crow Flies here.
We were joined in livescore by Argyll Youth Arts Hub, #artcore (Edinburgh Youth Arts Hub), Lyceum Youth Theatre, After the News and Kopergietery (Ghent, Belgium).
livescore was supported by Time to Shine, Scotland’s Youth Arts Strategy which is administered by Creative Scotland. Time to Shine is Scotland’s arts strategy for young people age 0 – 25. Its core purpose is to enrich young people’s lives through the arts and creativity. Scotland’s young people are leading the development of Time to Shine, creating an environment in which each and every person can thrive.
