Strategic Development

The performing arts for children and young people have been one of the biggest cultural success stories in Scotland over the past decade. Through the success of this work and with the wealth of new and existing talent ready to use their skill and passion for the benefit of children and young people throughout Scotland, our sector is ideally placed to profoundly and positively affect the development of our children.

If we are to inspire, challenge and encourage Scotland’s children and young people, those charged with their education, care and development need directed resources to deliver the highest quality cultural provision.

We look forward to working with all the key stakeholders to increase the availability and quality of the performing arts experience over the next five years.

Current Strategic Development Projects include:
  • Family Friendly Initiative - supporting children and families' participation in and enjoyment of the performing arts. www.family-friendly.net
  • Researching the benefits of the performing arts in the development of children and young people.
  • Audience Development – co-ordinating and taking part in activities that help raise the profile of the performing arts for children.
  • Lobbying for a performing arts strategy for children and young people in order to increase the resources to have greater access and participation and enhance the experience for children and young people.
