Andrea Cabrera Luna, originally from Puebla, Mexico, is a Scotland-based director, performer, and facilitator. Her work blends mime, science, dance and the manipulation of objects and materials often drawing from the absurd. As the artistic director of Anahat Theatre, Andrea engages both professional performers and non-actors, in the creative process.
She has collaborated with theatre companies and institutions such as the Royal Lyceum (Edinburgh), Told by an Idiot (London), Back to Back Theatre (Geelong, Australia), and the universities of St Andrews and Edinburgh.
Her poetry has been featured in Mixtape 2020, 2021 and 2022 editions of the Writers of Colour Audio Anthologies curated by Hannah Lavery. She trained as a director at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and holds an MA in Performance and Culture from Goldsmiths, University of London, a BA in Acting from the National School of Performing Arts (ENAT), and a BA in English Literature from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
Directing work includes Instructions on How to Cry (work in progress, presented at Vault Festival and Lyceum Studio), What Ever Happened to Harmony Banks? By Tess Letham (in development),The Arsonists (Royal Conservatoire of Scotland), Scenes from The Duchess of Malfi (Shakespeare’s Globe), and Hotel Juárez (University of Edinburgh/Assembly Roxy). She has also worked as an associate director on The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart (Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh, dir. Wils Wilson) and as an assistant director on Charlie and Stan, as well as serving as script coordinator for Would You Bet Against Us? (Told by an Idiot, dir. Paul Hunter).
