Clare Adam

  • Clare Adam c. David Thomas Adam

2020 Graduate: Scottish School of Contemporary Dance BA (Hons) - Glasgow Based Freelance Dance Artist

Clare is a Deaf dance artist, and through her work strive to educate her audience about inclusivity. She has found that in the current dance community there is a absence of disabled representation and awareness. Because of this and her own experiences, she has utilised dance in the last 13 months to showcase positive and immersive pieces that blend education with creativity and to help explain disabled points of view that don’t currently exist in the dance world.

Within her own style of dance, she is driven to keep her work playful and experimental, using the most of the spaces around her to be as expressive as possible often using lots of floor work and always looking to expand her vocabulary within the contemporary field. More recently she has been blending British Sign Language with her work showing how both movements can complement and enhance one another whilst furthering her goal of education.
