Ivor MacAskill (he/they) is a queer, trans, neurodivergent live artist and theatre-maker based in Glasgow, UK, creating award-winning work for children and adults. He develops both solo performances and collaborative projects as part of Bear Hug Theatre and Cade & MacAskill. Their highly original works are entertaining and experimental both in content and form, often aiming to make the familiar feel strange and the strange feel good.

He often mentors other artists, particularly those moving towards young audiences, supporting Daniel Oliver’s ‘The Egg Show’, Heather Brandenburg’s ‘Sasquatch’ – a queer wrestling show for kids; ‘Plink And Boo’ by Can’t Sit Still; and Mamoru Iriguchi’s ‘EATEN’.

In 2015-2017, Ivor was supported by Imaginate as a research artist leading on Gendersaurus Rex, a major project exploring gender, sexuality, queerness and difference in children’s performance, which then led to him being the lead artist on the EU-funded PUSH project.
