Kolbrún Björt Sigfúsdóttir

Kolbrún Björt Sigfúsdóttir is an award winning playwright, director and dramaturg. Her original work includes This Is a Gift (Royal Shakespeare Company 37 Plays), Deliverance (Brite Theater and Vanishing Point) and Kit Kat (Traverse Theatre Breakfast Plays). She is an incoming playwright in residence at Borgarleikhúsið (Reykjavik City Theatre) and Artistic Director of Brite Theater. Brite Theater specialises in audience participatory theatre experiences; centring female, queer and migrant stories.

A former director in residence at Tron Theatre (hang, Me and My Sister Tell Each Other Everything, Happy Ark Day! :)) she now works freelance. Predominantly working with new writing, her directing credits include The Beatles Were a Boyband (F-Bomb), ChildMinder (Genesis Productions/Traverse Theatre) and Variant (A Play, A Pie and a Pint). She was nominated as best director at the CATS Awards 2022 for Me and My Sister Tell Each Other Everything (Tron).

Having worked with youth theatres and made family shows in her native Iceland at the beginning of her career Kolbrún is thrilled to finally be developing a new piece for young audiences in Scotland. The Day I Died or The Strange Mystery of Detective Dreamer (working title/s) is an interactive audio-play for stage.
