Mele Broomes is an award-winning choreographer and performer (Total Theatre Awards, Best Dance at Edinburgh Fringe 2018 for work VOID), is part of Take Me Somewhere Artist Constellation team and recipient of Black Gold, Contact Manchester and Diverse Actions 2019/2020 commission for the development of her new solo work. 

Founder of V/DA a multi disciplinary collective where her roles cross between, directing, performing, choreographing and assistant producing. V/DA's current works include Sonic Séance which premiered at Take Me Somewhere Festival 2019, Sonic Séance: The Gathering an exhibition and program of events and workshops the Centre For Contemporary Arts and Grin which is part of Dance International Glasgow 2019. Mele is co-director of Project X Dance - an organisation which champions the dances of the African Caribbean Diaspora in Scotland. Mele's work embodies stories from the collective voice, creating visceral and sensory collaborations through her ancestral inheritance. Activating social questions. Remembering and celebrating.

Mele has choreographed and performed nationally and internationally at Dance International Glasgow, Sick of The Fringe (London), OFTTA (Montreal), danceGATHERING (Lagos), The Centre For The Less Good Ideas (Johannesburg), Tramway (Glasgow), Bloc Party (Lagos), Dance Live (Aberdeen), Festival Del Silenzio (Milan) to name a few and has collaborated with Mushroom Hour Half Hour (Johannesburg), Lindiwe Matshikiza (Johannesburg), Zephyr Liddell (Glasgow), Ashanti Harris (Glasgow), Patricia Panther (Glasgow),  Sabrina Henry (UK), Story Board P (New York) amongst others.
