Nadia Smith (she/her) is a costume designer/maker based in Glasgow. After studying ‘Costume for Performance’ at the University of the Arts London, she has started her career working in a variety of contexts, from film and TV, to theatre, to fashion. Having worked as a designer on local productions and short films, as well as a costume trainee on large scale productions (most recently on Netflix’s ‘Department Q’), she has a range of experience which contributes to her ongoing development.
She is passionate about storytelling, and loves to create costumes which evoke emotional or thought provoking responses from audiences. She feels costume can bring a character to life in a way that transcends language, and therefore is a unifying art form which sparks imagination. With a focus on a sustainable future, she aims to bring eco-conscious practices to any role, and looks forward to contributing to the next generation of sustainable designers.
