How to apply

This opportunity is open to artists living in Scotland, read the attached Guidelines and email us if you have any questions prior to application.

Tell us about the idea you would like to develop, thinking about who the work might be for and why you want to develop this work.  The most important thing is to really paint a picture of what your idea is, how the audience will meet it/interact with it on the day, and why this would be an excellent fit for a public space/Family Day environment.

You should send this to applications@imaginate.org.uk with Family Day Commission 2020 as the subject title by the deadline of Wednesday 31 July 2019.

We are currently seeking to commission a new piece of performance for a public space setting for the Family Day events at Edinburgh International Children’s Festival and Merchant City Festival in 2020.

This commission is a new partnership between Imaginate and Glasgow Life (Arts) to encourage the creation of new work for families in Scotland.  In particular, we would like to support artists to experiment with a new performance idea, something maybe less usual to find in a public space, that is inclusive for audiences (integrated bsl or non-verbal as an example).

Full details of how to apply can be found in the accompanying Guidelines, do get in touch with us if you would like to ask questions.  We would encourage you to attend the Family Day at Merchant City Festival this year if you are not familiar with the event, it takes place on Friday 26 July.

The panel for this opportunity is:

Greg Sinclair - Freelance performance maker
Lorenzo Mele - Senior Arts Officer, Glasgow Arts
Fiona Ferguson - Creative Development Director, Imaginate
Noel Jordan - Festival Director, Imaginate
Pamela Walker - Senior Producer, Imaginate
