We are excited to offer two funded places for existing members of Teachers’ Theatre Club (TTC 1, 2, 3 and 4 plus NTTC) to attend Step Festival in Gothenburg, Sweden, 6-9 March 2024.
Teachers’ Theatre Club has inspired Step Festival to set up Step Dance Club, a similar project aimed at bringing together teachers and the performing arts. This exchange visit is following on from Step Dance Club coming to the Children’s Festival last May.
This is a brilliant opportunity for TTC members to see international dance performances and meet international teachers and practitioners. You will be accompanied by Fiona and Anna from the Imaginate team.
Key Information
This opportunity is for two individual teachers from Teachers' Theatre Club as a professional development opportunity. As you will require some time out of school in order to participate, your headteacher will need to approve your application.
Travel dates:
- Wednesday 6 March: Fly from Edinburgh 13:05 to Oslo, arrive in Gothenburg via train/bus by approx 21:00-22:00
- Saturday 9 March: Fly direct from Gothenburg to Edinburgh at 19:50
Imaginate will:
- Book and pay for all Festival tickets including performances and industry events
- Arrange and pay for any return travel from Edinburgh to the festival
- Pay £40 per diem per night, including any travel days
- Arrange and pay for your hotel in Gothenburg
- Cover access costs where needed
Teachers will be selected by a panel of Imaginate staff and TTC members. The panel will meet the week on 23 November, you will know if you have been selected by Friday 1 December.

Step Festival - 6 to 9 March 2024
Step is an international dance festival for young audiences in West Sweden produced by Producentbyrån.
The festival is a biennial and was launched in March 2020. The second edition of the festival took place from March 2-25 2022 and all in all, 60 events were presented at 19 venues and locations in six municipalities in Region Västra Götaland. The festival also contains a professional’s program for practitioners, organizations and anyone working with or for dance for young audiences.
Step is curated by Producentbyrån and three guest curators - Fiona Ferguson from Imaginate (Scotland), Adjjima Na Patalung from BICT Fest (Thailand) and Peter Sunesson from Sweden.
