Navigating The Now

Navigating the Now was created and facilitated by Luke Pell to offer a slow, steady and flexible space for returning to, reflecting on and stimulating artistic practice for those who care about making live performance, dance, theatre and movement for and with children and young people.  After an open callout, thirty artists, creatives and practitioners from across Scotland gathered alongside one another in ‘navigating the now’.

Navigating the Now began with participants receiving a small parcel in the post which offered a series of independent exercises and small group conversations.  Luke curated small groups of three who met online in facilitated conversations in addition to using a Padlet page to share and explore what is at the heart of people’s respective practices, ways to keep playing and being creative and shared and differing challenges.

In April, artists were invited to a Saturday morning event, facilitated by Luke with provocations and thoughts from Caroline BowditchNadia Iftkhar and Hannah Lavery.  Navigating the Now finished with a gathering online on 3 July.  Participants have been offered space and a fee to write a blog reflecting on the project, sharing issues that arose in conversations, and calls for change.

Navigating the Now was a partnership between The Work Room and Imaginate.
