Project This Girl

Project This Girl is an Imaginate creative learning project (for P3 - S1 pupils) inspired by this year's festival show This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girl Does Nothing.

Schools across Edinburgh were invited to apply to be part of this exciting project to explore sound design and how this can impact a theatre production. Each participating class will have a one-day pre-show workshop exploring how music composed by Novasound influences this production. The class will work with a professional musician/sound designer and a theatre maker to deepen their understanding of the use of sound and music, and how this can influence a theatre production. They will also learn about evaluating and reviewing a piece of theatre through a facilitated post-show workshop.

The classes will then come and see This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girl Does Nothing at The Brunton Theatre, Musselburgh as part of Edinburgh International Children's Festival.

In the final part of the project, each class will learn more about evaluating a piece of theatre in a post-show workshop facilitated by a professional theatre maker.

Novasound have released their This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girl Does Nothing album on Spotify. They have also recorded a Q&A where you can find out more about their process, how they created the music and their favourite tracks!
