Brrr is a multi-sensory installation and dance performance for young audiences with complex needs aged 10-18. Set within an inflatable dome, Brrr is an immersive exploration of winter featuring dance, sound, video, and lots and lots of snow!

Created in collaboration with young people and a team of artists specialising in inclusive practice, the performance is tailored to meet the specific needs of each audience member, offering audiences the freedom to engage in their own way and at their own pace with the shimmering winter landscape.

Brrr is an unforgettable encounter where needs are not only accommodated but celebrated. The performance is suitable for those with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Autistic and neurodivergent individuals, and wheelchair users or other mobility aid users. It features minimal to no language, so is suitable for non-verbal and Deaf audiences.

Access Information

Set design: The set is all shades of white. There is a white floor, a white inflatable dome surrounding the performance area, and a wide range of seating for the audience to sit in, in white and cream. There will be a hoist that can facilitate transfer out of mobility aids and into one of the seating areas. There is also a dip-out space that includes: a live video from inside the dome, props, costume pieces and an MP3 player with recordings of the soundtrack.

Performers: There are three dancers in the show, they are all wearing white overalls and white hats. There is also a stage manager who is also wearing white, and who helps the dancers sometimes with their props and costume.

Lights: The dome gently glows different colours during the performance, and sometimes there are props that glow with white light. There are projectors that show abstract shapes and colours on the walls and floor, and at the end of the performance there is a rainbow of colours and shapes that cover everything.

Experience: The performance is designed to be calming, with gentle transitions between moments, and a relaxed performance environment. Audiences are invited to explore and engage in a way that suits them, and at their own pace - including leaving and re-entering the performance at any time.

Capacity: 8 children + carers
