Imaginate are delighted that our 2025 commission The Unlikely Friendship of Feather Boy and Tentacle Girl is being presented at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Tramway, Glasgow in August 2025!

Imaginate commissioned artists Vee Smith and Sadiq Ali to create The Unlikely Friendship of Feather Boy and Tentacle Girl for the Edinburgh International Children's Festival 2025, funded through the Scottish Government's Festivals Expo Fund and Creative Scotland. The show is produced by Catherine Wheels, in association with the National Theatre of Scotland, and supported by Assembly.

We are so pleased that the performance is being presented as part of Made in Scotland at Assembly Roxy as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, 4-17 August 2025 (not Wednesday) at 11:25am, and then finishing the run at Tramway, Glasgow on the 29 and 20 August 2025.

About the performance:

Two friends perform breathtaking aerial shows. They fly, spin, hang from the rooftops and fall out of the sky...

But they weren’t always so glorious. How did they transform from feeling like outsiders, unable to fit in, to the fantastical creatures they always knew they had inside them?

The Unlikely Friendship of Feather Boy and Tentacle Girl is the touching story of a girl who wants to be a monster and a boy who wants to fly. Exploring the universal yearning to belong and sharing the joy of friendship, this is a dynamic and visually stunning aerial show.

Commissioned by Imaginate, produced by Catherine Wheels, in association with the National Theatre of Scotland, supported by Assembly. Funded through the Scottish Government's Festivals Expo Fund, development funded by Creative Scotland.
