Since 2022, Imaginate and North Edinburgh Arts have been collaborating on our Creative Encounters project. During this time, children have co-commissioned performances for the Edinburgh International Children's Festival Family Day and North Edinburgh Community Festival.
Artists and children have worked in partnership to co-create these pop-up performances, and the project has transformed Imaginate's approach to children's-rights-based working.
In order to capture learning from the project, we have collaborated with children from North Edinburgh to develop the Creative Encounters Manifestation - a mash-up of "manifesto" and "invitation".
The Manifestation is for artists and adults who are looking to collaborate with children. It includes a series of invitations from children for you to consider before you embark on collaborative projects with young people. The Manifestation is available as a PDF document and an animated video.

Credits
The Manifestation includes quotes and tips from across the years of the project and was designed by children. Page design is by Ala, Jenny, Mehuli, Reel and Willow with support and additional design by Valerie Reid.
Greer Pester has collaborated with the North Edinburgh Arts Youth Arts Collective to put together an animated version of the invitation’s pages with voiceover and animation contribution from Aiden, CJ, Dean, Ellie, Elliot, Frankie, Jasper, Jaxson, Jessica, Junior, Thomas and Willow.
