Theatre in Schools Scotland 2020-21 programme

Theatre in Schools Scotland is managed by Imaginate and the National Theatre of Scotland to develop the provision of theatre and dance performances available for schools to host for their pupils.

Our programme is informed by input from teachers, and selected from some of the best Scottish performing companies who are specialising in theatre and dance for children and young people.

While live touring performances are currently suspended we are using this time to look at new ways we can work with schools and teachers:

Last year we commissioned a new digital adaptation of Potato Needs a Bath, presented by Shona Reppe, and 'toured' to a number of classrooms with the support of Orkney Islands Council. The production integrates livestream with a new filmed version of the story and went on to visit a number of UK festivals in early 2021.

Award-winning performance company, Curious Seed, was scheduled to bring its acclaimed dance theatre show, Chalk About, into schools in the autumn. While this was not possible, the company took this opportunity to workshop ideas for the future of the show.

At Christmas, Catherine Wheels Theatre Company created a filmed version of their award winning White for nusery and P1 and National Theatre of Scotland's filmed Rapunzel was offered to all schools in Scotland, free of charge, for P4+ and secondary.

We are currently working on our 2021-22 programme, details of which can be seen on the Theatre in Schools Scotland website
