How to apply

Places are free, but limited, so please email us at applications@imaginate.org.uk (with Make your work accessible in the subject title) with a short description of your practice and your interest in accessibilty & theatre and dance for young audiences.  Places will be booked in order of application so there is no deadline.

When applying, please let us know if you are able to join us for Blanche & Butch at 7pm on Thursday 5 October.

 

Facilitated by disabled performers and makers, Caroline Bowditch and Robert Softley Gale, this practical and interactive 2-day adventure will give you the low down on the what, why and how to make your work accessible to as wide an audience as possible. 

Caroline Bowditch is a performance artist and choreographer with years of experience in working to improve accessibility and inclusivity within the arts.  She is currently leading the project Weren't you expecting me? with Imaginate exploring the visibility of disabled performers in performance for young audiences.

Robert is Artistic Director of Birds of Paradise Theatre Company.  He has over ten years of experience in diverse roles including disability rights activist, actor and performer, writer, artistic director and advocate of equality of access to the arts for disabled people.  

As part of this workshop, all participants will be offered a free ticket to see Birds of Paradise's Blanche & Butch performance at Platform (7pm, Thursday 5 October).  This performance integrates audio description, BSL and captioning.
